In line with the technical assistance support of MTCP2 to participating FOs on their priority concerns, the “Harvesting Experiences on Seeds in Asia and the Pacific: A Learning Exchange Forum” was organized in Quezon City, Philippines last December 5-7, 2014 by strategic partner AsiaDHRRA.

Around twenty-fife (25) participants participated from South East Asia, five (5) from South Asia, and six (6) from the Pacific Islands. There were also at least eighteen (18) resource speakers and other guests.

Consisting of a two-day forum and a day of field visit, the international conference has achieved the following objectives: (a) enhanced participant’s understanding of the historical context of seeds supply chain in Asia and the
Pacific; (b) provided venues for discussion on the opportunities and challenges in seeds supply chain, social infrastructure, financing, and enabling mechanisms in Asia and the Pacific; (c) facilitated farmer-to-farmer and private-to-public sectors exchanges of success stories, emerging trends on seeds production, distribution, marketing and conservation; and (d) provided opportunities for interaction and exchange learning among different farmers’ organizations in Asia-Pacific.
