This year’s South Asia Sub-Regional Steering Committee Meeting will be held at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Cox’s Bazar is the world’s longest beach with an unbroken 120 kilometer sandy beach with gentle slope. Cox’s Bazar is a fishing town and is also know by the name Panowa, whose literal translation means “yellow flower.” Its other old name was “Palongkee.”
